The WABCO Model 170D electric-drive HAULPAK truck is a carefully engineered, off-the-road type rear dump truck designed for the fast and efficient hauling that mining jobs demand.
The Model 170D HAULPAK truck is available with two different electrical power systems. The series electrical system is readily identifiable by the existence of a rotating exciter mounted next to the blower assembly on top of the traction alternator. The other electrical system, known as the STATEX electrical system, uses a solid state exciter mounted within the main electrical cabinet.

Because of the difference in these two electrical systems, the electric wheel motors are not interchangeable between the two systems. When ordering repair parts or requesting service for the Model 170D HAULPAK truck, state which electrical system your truck is equipped with – Series electrical systems have a rotating exciter mounted on the alternator, STATEX elec­trical systems DO NOT have the rotating exciter.
