Privacy & Policy

General information

The laws on data protection protect personal data. “Personal data” is individual details about personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person (a human). This includes, for example, their name, postal or email address, as well as an indication as to when this person viewed which webpage.

You can visit our website without disclosing any personal information.

When you visit our website and view a single webpage, you are retrieving individual files, which that webpage is made up of. The retrieval of these files is stored in a log file (a simple text file), each of which contains the following information for each retrieval:

  • the IP address of the computer you use to retrieve the file;
  • the date and time of the retrieval;
  • name of the file that was retrieved;
  • status of the transmission (successful or aborted);
  • from which webpage the file was originally requested and
  • with which browser, operating system, and with what surface the file was requested.

Such technical recordings are typical and are performed by virtually every web server.

We use this log in order to be able to identify and resolve technical errors on our website, and so to improve the quality of our website from a technical point of view. We also use the data in order to be able to uncover and prevent any misuse of our website in the future. In addition, we reserve the right to statistical evaluate anonymous records from this log file, in order to improve our website.

The legal basis of the processing: Article 6(1f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests: technical maintenance of the operation of the website; service improvement of the website offering; prevention of abuse.

We will not use personal data stored in this log file, nor merge it with other data sources.

We will delete the data stored in the log file after 7 days.

Ordering of goods, registration with the online shop, price enquiries.

You can order from us via our online shop, by email or by telephone.

In doing so, we process the personal data you provide: identification data, address data and contact data, your bank details, your order data such as the date of the order and the products ordered, data about payment, sales data, information about goods you have already ordered, and about discounts.

For the purpose of your registration, we will likewise process the data, so that we can deal with your order or request. This involves the same data.

How long do we store your data?

We process and store your personal data for as long as it is required for the fulfilment of our contractual and legal obligations. It is important to note that in the event of a registration with the online shop, our business relationship is deemed to be a continuing obligation, applicable for a period of years.

If the data is no longer required for the fulfilment of contractual or statutory obligations, it is deleted on a regular basis.

Newsletters / email advertising

If you wish to receive the newsletter offered on our website, we require your email address as well as information which allow us to verify that you are the owner of the specified email address, and that you agree to receive the newsletter.

You may like to inform us of your title, first name, last name and date of birth, although you are not obliged to do so. If you provide us with your title, first name and last name, we will use this to address the newsletter to you personally. If you provide us with your date of birth, we use this to send you our best wishes on the day. If you are a commercial customer, we will also gather the customer number and company name, so these details can be assigned to your email address on our system.

In order to ensure that the sending of the newsletter is mutually agreed, we use the “double opt-in” procedure. In the course of this, potential recipients are recorded on a mailing list. The user then receives a confirmation email so that he/she may confirm – in a legal binding manner – the registration. Only if the confirmation is performed will the address be deemed active on the distribution list.

We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and offers.

When contacting us using the contact form, personal data is collected from you when you fill in the respective fields on the form and send data. It is your decision whether and what information you provide us with in this manner. The personal data to be collected to this extent include, in particular, your contact information, e.g. first name, surname, company email address, customer number, address data.

Your details will be stored on our server for the purpose of processing your request and in the event that subsequent questions arise. We will not use this data for advertising purposes.

If you send us a message using the contact form on our website, this data is encrypted. The confidentiality and integrity of the content is thus ensured.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). The use includes “Universal Analytics”. As a result, it is possible that data, meetings and interactions are assigned a pseudonymous user ID across multiple devices, and that the activities of a user are analysed across all devices. Google Analytics uses “cookies” – text files that are stored on your computer and enable analysis of the use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this site is generally sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

In this case we use the privacy shield negotiated between the European Union and the United States to ensure an adequate level of data protection.

Using Google Fonts and static blocks

To display its content, this website uses external fonts (so-called “Google fonts”) as well as static blocks, such as logos (e.g. Google Maps logo) and/or control symbols.

In doing so, personal data is made available to Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google provides fonts and static blocks. If you access this website, the necessary fonts and static blocks are loaded in the cache of your browser, so that the texts, fonts and static blocks are properly displayed on the page.

To this end, the information which is customarily provided when accessing a website (in particular, the IP address of your device and the referrer URL) is transmitted to a Google Inc. server. For more information, see https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and Google’s privacy statement https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-UK.

Use of cookies

On our website, we use “cookies” in order to make your visit to this website as convenient as possible, and to allow the use of certain features.

What are cookies? They are small text files that are stored on your computer. Most of the cookies we use are deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (so-called “session cookies”). Other cookies remain on your computer and allow us to recognise your computer next time you visit (so-called “persistent cookies”). These cookies eliminate the need for you to re-enter your password or fill out forms with your data on subsequent visits.

You can manage the treatment of these cookies in your internet browser (e.g. how to block them). Please take a look in the “Help” section of your respective Internet browser.

Please enable (session) cookies in your browser settings in order to be able to use the easily use the features of our portal. Otherwise, you will not be able to use individual features of our site.

The “session cookies” are automatically deleted from your hard drive after the end of the browser session (hence the name “session cookies”). Session cookies are required, for example, in order to be able to offer you the shopping basket function across more than one page. In addition, we also use cookies which stay on your hard drive (temporary cookies). Upon your next visit, it will be automatically recognised that you have already visited, and what your preferences are in terms of inputs and settings. These temporary or even permanent cookies (of 1-year duration) are stored on your hard drive and delete themselves automatically after the defined period. In particular, these cookies serve the purpose of making our offering more user-friendly, more effective and safer. These files, for example, enable you to land on the page with the relevant language setting. The sole purpose of cookies is to adapt our offering to your customer wishes in the best possible way, and to make your navigation with us as comfortable as possible.

What data is stored in the cookies? Only pseudonymous data will be stored in the cookies used by The Repair Manual. Upon activation of the cookie, it will be ascribed an identification number, and no assignment of your personal data to this identification number is made. Your name, IP address or similar data which would enable an allocation of the cookies, are not inserted into the cookie. Due to the cookie technology, we only receive pseudonymous information, for example about which webpages of our shop were visited, what products were viewed, etc.
