Track Tension
Check the tension of the tracks as required. Adjust the tension for the type of surface the machine will be operating on. Tighten the track for operation on hard surfaces and loosen the track for operation on soft surfaces.
1. Park the machine on a hard level surface. Rotate the upper structure of the excavator so that the cab is over the track that you want to check.
2. Put wood blocks under the tool and lower the tool onto the wood blocks. Lower the tool just enough to raise the track so that the track shoes are not touching the floor.
3. Measure the distance between the bottom surface of the third and fourth track rollers and the top of the track chain link. The amount of track deflection must be 2.8 to 3.6 inches (70 to 91 mm).
1. 2.8 to 3.6 Inches (70 to 91 mm)
2. Between the Third and Fourth Track Rollers
4. Do the following procedure to increase the track tension.
A. Clean the grease fitting for the track adjustment cylinder.
B. Inject grease into the track adjustment cylinder until the track tension is correct.
