Manual Extract Troubleshooting
NOTE : Before undertaking any service work, make sure that the drive belt is not worn and that the belt tension is correct.
The alternator is designed in such a way that a current flow (shown by 9 charge warning lamp not being lit or by a reading shown on an ammeter) shows that the system is operating correctly. If the system is operating correctly, no check of open circuit, voltage or current flow needs to be performed on the installation, unless :
– The charge indicator lamp does not come on when the alternator is not moving and when the switch is in “On” position or if it comes on when the alternator is running.
– An absence of current flow is indicated on the ammeter.
– The battery is discharged.
– The battery is hotter than normal which shows a loss of voltage control.
If one or more of the above symptoms occurs, the procedure shown below must be followed.
