Manual Extract – Diesel particulate filter system

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) system is an exhaust gas cleaner. When a specified amount of particulate material (PM) is reached, the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) temperature increases. The temperature increase burns and removes the PM.
The engine electronic control unit (ECU) calculates the amount of PM using the amount of operating time since the last regeneration occurred and the use of sensors.

When the engine ECU senses a specified amount of PM, the automatic regeneration procedure starts.
The DPF system controls the fuel injection, throttle valve, and so on to increase and control the DPF internal temperature during the regeneration procedure.

NOTE:
The DPF system can fail when leaving the machine running for several hours without checking on the machine.
For manual regeneration to occur:
• Parking brake must be engaged
• Tractor must be in neutral
• Engine must be on
• The manual regeneration button must be pressed and held down for several seconds For automatic regeneration to occur:
• Graph must show 5 or 6 bars
• DOC temperature is more than 239 °C (462 °F) • Coolant temperature is above 62 °C (143 °F)

NOTE: If the machine is operating, the regeneration procedure will start automatically without the operator knowing.
If regeneration does not occur, do the common rail system maintenance procedure and repeat the manual regeneration procedure.
