Carefully hoist radiator assembly up and over frame.
7. DISASSEMBLY (Refer Fig. 2.6)
1. Support radiator in an upright position. Remove over flow tube (1).
2. Disassembly tie rods (9).
3. Remove mounting hardware from top tank (2) and remove header bars (5).
4. Remove top tank (2) and discard gaskets (3). Turn radiator over and support it on top flange of core (4).
5. Remove mounting hardware from bottom tank (12) and remove header bars (11). Remove bottom tank and discard gasket (3a).
6. Remove mounting hardware secure side channels (6 and 6a) to spacer (8).
7. Remove mounting hardware secure top (4) and bottom (10) core and remove header bars (7).
8. Remove spacer (8) and discard gaskets (13).
8. INSPECTION AND REPAIR
1. Flush out upper and lower tanks with water. Flush out cores with water under pressure, both inside and outside. If core is greasy, clean it with steam cleaning equipment. Clean all remaining radiator parts. Be sure all old gasket material is removed.
2. Inspect radiator tanks for cracks. Examine fins and tubes of cores for damage. Rod out tubes to be sure they are not restricted. Straighten bent fins if possible to avoid air flow restrictions.
3. Inspect the rubber bushings in the side channels for damage and replace if necessary. The rubber bushings can be removed using a slide hammer. If rubber bushings are removed, it will be easier to install the new bushings when securing radiator assembly to frame.
IMPORTANT: When removing rubber bushings from an assembled radiator, do not allow the puller rod to contact and damage the radiator core fins.
